Process Discovery
Type: Toolsheet
💡 Note: It is now since v2.4 not longer possible to switch between Process Flow and Resource Flow in this sheet since the User Log has been migrated to the Resource Analysis Sheet.
Functions
-
Do-it-yourself process analysis
-
A generic overview with basic PPIs, like number of cases and number of activities of the data analyzed in the application
-
Analyze the basic PPIs by process context, also as pivot in the Additional Analysis
-
Display of the process flow
-
Display of the event log in the Additional Analysis
Business Benefits
-
Impartial tool sheet for undirected process analysis
-
Supports basic process discovery and insights to the data
Interpreting the Visualizations
Key Figures
# Cases
- Shows the number of individual cases that have gone through or are going through the process.
- A timeline below shows the change over time.
# Events
- Shows the number of events for the process.
# Process Variants
- Shows how many different ways a case has gone through the process. Variants can include new steps, skipped steps, change of order of the steps, loops or repeated steps (e.g. one order arriving in two separate deliveries will have the step Goods Receipt repeat), and change steps (or rework).
AVG Lead Time
- This shows the average or median cycle time for process completion.
Process Analyzer
On the right side of the sheet, the process analyzer shows the process visually as nodes and edges. Use the variants adjuster to increase or reduce the number of variants shown.Above the process analyzer you will see the key figures for the number and percent of variants show in the selection compared to the total as well as the number and percent of cases.
Select a specific activity or edge to filter on and dig deeper.
Click here for more information on the Process Analyzer.
The Tables
See context information plotted against various metrics. Select one or more bars to filter further. The Process Context Table
Use the X- and Y-axis dropdowns to change the dimensions and measures shown, e.g. the number of cases for each supplier or the number of variants for each product class.
The Lead Time Distribution Table
Switch tabs to see the Lead Time Distribution, also with the ability to change the dimensions and measures on the axes.
The Map Analysis
Switch to the third tab to see a world map to search by country, region or city. Alternatively a production map of a factory showing how goods being produced are routed through the production floor is also a possibility.
