Conformance Checking

Conformance Checking focuses on the comparison of existing process models with event logs of these processes by calculating deviation metrics. Thus, the conformation of reality from event logs with an assumed process model becomes accessible and valuable insights into process deviations can be gathered.

A core element of Conformance Checking is the concept of a happy path. In combination with specific Conformance Metrics these happy paths provide an easily understandable comparison methodology.

The Conformance sheet shows how conformance checking results are presented while the page Perform Conformance Checking on Your Process Mining Data shows how to use the mpmX Conformance Checking algorithms on an event log.

Conformance Checking can deliver different insights into processes:

  1. A KPI showing the process quality.

  2. Indication of the most common deviations.

  3. Indication of the root causes of those deviations.
